Ground/Airport Transportation
The main airport in Los Angeles, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), is roughly 16.8 miles from the LA Convention Center and easily accessible via car or public transportation. Estimated fare from LAX to LA Convention Center is $67.05, including 15% for tips. It is the third-busiest airport in the United States, with flights to and from almost anywhere.
Taxis can be found curbside on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal under the yellow sign indicating Taxis. Passengers will be presented with a ticket stating typical fares to major destinations.
Approximately 40 rental car companies operate out of LAX, with vehicle rental sites located off the airport. Many of these rental car companies provide phone links inside or near the baggage claim areas on the Lower/Arrival Level of the terminals so travelers can request a free shuttle pick up to reach the rental car sites.
Free shuttle bus service is provided from the Metro Green Line Aviation Station. Passengers wishing to use this shuttle bus service should wait under the LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections sign on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal, and board the “G” Shuttle.
Passengers also can take the “C” Shuttle from the same pick-up point to get to the Metro Bus Center, where they can board city buses serving the Los Angeles area. Information on city bus services is available by telephone on the Information Display Board in the baggage claim area in each terminal. In addition, passengers can obtain local transit information by calling 323.GO.METRO or 323.466.3876.
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) makes it easy for visitors to use public transportation to get around L.A. It operates 2,200 buses and six rail lines, including a subway with service from Downtown to Hollywood in about 15 minutes. Metro Stop Cost
All fares can be pre-paid by loading a pass or Stored Valued (cash) on a TAP card and then tapping each time you board. On buses you can also pay for a single ride with a token or cash using exact change.
